Life near home

I will get back to the story of the Yellowstone trip of 2012, but somehow I got inspired on yesterday hike through Minnewaska SP ("Stay hungry, stay foolish" SJ). So I weeded through the pictures from the last month or so. All the escapades are in the vicinity of home, with exception of surfing trip to Sea Isle City, NJ. But then the only picture from there is the ocean at dusk. So here is my month (or month and a half) in pictures (in no particular order).

This duck family is quite friendly with people, almost sitting on my lap. I was at the same lake about 3 weeks ago, and the ducklings were small, followed Mom everywhere and she actually kept them away from passers by. Now (these pics were taken yesterday) they are huge and readily run towards people.

Mommy-duck

Awosting lake, where the ducks live, is lovely for midsummer day dip

On the way to the lake it's incredible to wonder around in the blooming clouds of rhododendrons and patches of not yet ripe blueberries...

... and do some cliff gazing

A river runs through it

Sitting on the edge of the cliff watching over the sea of trees...

... on the way to explore ice caves (sometimes even with company)

Waking up on the cliff in the clouds of quickly disappearing mist...

... and walking on the hill in the fog

Some poisonous (or not) mushrooms

Surfing trip to New Jersey. The Atlantic Ocean in evening dusk from totally deserted beach

Berry-picking

Chasing the sunsets

UNTIL THE NEXT ADVENTURE
